The racecourse of Assiniboia Downs, administered by Manitoba Jockey Club, can be found in the city of Winnipeg in the state of Manitoba in Canada. Its inaugural meeting took place on 12th June 1956, offering thoroughbred cards and hosting the prestigious Manitoba Derby for 3 year olds over 9 furlongs, first run in 1930 at Polo Park Racetrack. It is a relatively small dirt racecourse being oval in shape and having a circumference of less than 7 furlongs. Today the track is owned by Harvey Warner and also plays host to the Winnipeg Futurity.
