BOSTON (SPORTS STADIUM) GREYHOUND STADIUM

This site is not an official website for the track shown here and is neither approved or endorsed by the stadium. I am indebted to Richard English for the scans of badges on this page.

The greyhound track in the Lincolnshire town of Boston was situated on Shodfriars Lane and first hosted racing on 10th August 1932. Once the Second World War began the track closed in 1939 and it was to be a further 25 years before greyhound racing returned to Boston.

Although speedway did not arrive at the Boston Sports Stadium until 1970, the stadium was used for greyhounds for the previous 6 years. The new track was located on the New Hammond Road at Boston Sports Stadium at 0° 3' W 52° 58' N and held its inaugural meeting on 1st June 1964. Racing continued at the venue for 19 years before the track closed and its buildings demolished in 1983, replaced by a superstore

This section gives a comprehensive picture of the badges produced by the track throughout the ages, but only provides the briefest of glimpses of its history. For those wishing to undertake further research we can recommend a visit to
