BRATISLAVA RACECOURSE | ||
The Slovakian capital of Bratislava, situated on the River Danube, is the beautiful setting for the Bratislava Racecourse. It races on 17 occasions annually with meetings held on a Sunday throughout the period April until late October. The Zavodisko racecourse is unique in that it has a Podkova or horse-shoe shaped restaurant. | ||
The Principal races at the track are the Turf Gala and the Slovak Derby. In 2008 the Slovak Derby was won by the Czech horse Age of Jape. The horse was bred in Poland but managed to win the Czech Triple Crown races of the 2000 Gunieas, the Czech Derby and the St Leger. It also was successful in the Slovak Derby of 2008. | ||
