Cheltenham Park racecourse is situated just 5 kilometres outside of Adelaide and was first used for racing by the Port Adelaide Racing Club in 1921.

 
Port_Adelaide_1969.JPG (13984 bytes) The South Australian Jockey Club took over the administrationduties of the course in 1975 and ran the racecourse for the next 32 years. The money gained from selling the course is reported to be earmarked for use in developing the Victoria Park Racecourse.
