This was run on Thursday 25th May 1837 and there were 17 runners from 131 original subscrbers. The winner won by a head to claim the first prize of £3,700, the equivalent of £2,570,000 today, and only 2 horses were placed. The winner was bred by the 4th Baron Berners and trained by J.Doe.
