This was run on Wednesday 25th May 1842 and the winner was bred by Colonel Hancox and trained by John Scott at Malton. There were 24 runners from an initial entry of 180. The winner won by 2 lengths to claim a first prize of £4,900, the equivalent of £3,300,300 today and breaking the 'relative' £3 million barrier.
