This was run on Wednesday 23rd May 1855 and the winner was bred by Mr Francis Popham and trained by Mr Rickaby at Ashdown Park. There were 12 runners from an initial entry of 191. The winner won by 2 lengths in 2 mins 54 secs, with a head between second and third. The winner won a first prize of £5,075, (The equivalent of £519,600 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator).
