This was run on Wednesday 27th May 1868 and the winner was bred by Sir Joseph Hawley and trained by John Porter at Kingsclere. There were 18 runners from an initial entry of 260. The winner won by 1/2 a length in 2 mins 43.5 secs, with a good distance between second and third. The winner won a first prize of £6,800, (The equivalent of £731,000 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator). |
