This was run on Wednesday 31st May 1876 and the winner was bred by the Hungarian Imperial Stud and trained by Joseph Hayhoe at Newmarket. There were 15 runners from an initial entry of 226. The winner won by 5 lengths in 2 mins 44 secs, with 3 lengths between second and third. The winner won a first prize of £5,575, (The equivalent of £611,500 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator).
