This was run on Wednesday 23rd May 1883 and the winner was bred by the 1st Baron Alington and trained by John Porter at Kinsclere. There were 11 runners from an initial entry of 215. The winner won by a neck in 2 mins 48.6 secs, with 1/2 a length between second and third. The winner won a first prize of £5,150, the equivalent of £2,200,000 today.
