This, so called New Derby Stakes, was run on Wednesday 18th June 1941 at Newmarket because of World War II, and the winner was bred by the Honourable Mrs Catherine MacDonald-Buchanan and trained by Fred Darling at Beckhampton. There were 20 runners from an initial entry of 65. The winner won by 1 1/2 lengths with 2 lengths between second and third. The winners time was 2 mins 32 secs. The winner won a first prize of £4,473, (The equivalent of £214,700 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator).
