This, so called New Derby Stakes, was run on Saturday 17th June 1944 at Newmarket because of World War II, and the winner was bred by the 6th Earl of Rosebery and trained by Jack L.Jarvis at Newmarket. There were 20 runners from an initial entry of 95. The winner won by a neck with a short-head between second and third. The winners time was 2 mins 31 secs.
