This was run on Wednesday 4th June 1980 and the winner was bred by Mrs Jack G Jones, trained by Major Dick Hern and owned by Mme A Plesch. There were 24 runners and the winning time was 2 mins 34.77 secs. The winner won by 3/4 length with 1 1/2 lengths between second and third. The winner won a first prize of £166,820, (The equivalent of £680,000 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator).
