This was run on Wednesday 7th June 1989 and the winner was bred by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum and trained by Major Dick Hern. The winner won by 5 lengths with 2 lengths between second and third. The winning time was 2 mins 34.9 secs and the first prize was £296,000, (The equivalent of £700,000 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator). There were 12 runners and the winner was owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum, the second by The Dowager Lady Beaverbrook, and the third by Lady Harrison.
