This was run on Saturday 7th June 1997 and the winner was bred by Mr Landon Knight and trained by John Gosden. There were 13 runners and the winner was owned by Landon Knight, the second by Peter Winfield and the third by Robert Sangster. The winner won by a short head in 2 mins 35.77 secs, with 5 lengths between second and third. The first prize was £595,250, (The equivalent of £1,030,000 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator).
