This was run on Saturday 6th June 1998 and the winner was bred by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum and trained by Luca Cumani. There were 15 runners and the winner won by a head in 2 mins 33.88 secs, with 2 1/2 lengths between second and third. The winner was owned by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, the second by Godolphin and the third jointly by R.P.B.Michaelson and Wafic Said. The winner won a first prize of £598,690, (The equivalent of £1,002,000 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator).
