This was run on Diamond Jubilee day, the 2nd June 2012 and it was fine but overcast. The winner was bred by Sheikh Abdulla BinIsa Al-Khalifa and trained by Aidan O'Brien. The winner was the 8/13 favourite, having won the 2000 Guineas, and won 5 lengths with a short head between 2nd and 3rd.. The second was 9/1 whilst the third was 13/2 and also trained by Aidan O'Brien. There were 9 runners and it was the first time in 233 runnings that a father and son trained and rode the winner.

The winning time was 2 mins 33.9 secs. to claim a first prize of £751,407.50 (The equivalent of £843,500 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator) The winning owners were Derrick Smith, Mrs John Magnier and Michael Tabor.
