This was run on Wednesday 1st March 1837 at Aintree, despite many books suggesting that it was run at Maghull. There were 4 runners and the winners time was 14 minutes. There were 7 entries of 10 sovereigns with 100 sovereigns added, with the second saving his stake. The winner netted 170 sovereigns (Equivalent to £16,800 in 2017)
