This was run on the Wednesday 2nd March 1842 with the moderate going  but clear weather.  The winner was owned by John Elmore. trained by George Dockeray and ridden by Tom Olliver. The winners time was 13 minutes 30 secs.

There were 42 subscribers at 20 sovereigns each, with 100 sovereigns added. The second had their stake returned, meaning the winners pot was 920 sovereigns. (Equivalent to £88,200 in 2017)
