The Indiana Downs racecourse can be found in the town of Shelbyville in the state of Indiana and held its inaugural meeting on 6th December 2002. It not only holds regular thoroughbred meetings but also plays host to harness racing. The 8 furlong oval dirt track, with inner 7 furlong turf course and separate 6 furlong and 10 furlong chutes, sharing a 302 metre home straight is now known as Indiana Grand Race Course. The principal race was the Indiana First Lady Stakes, although when it became rebranded as Indiana Grand in 2013 it inherited many prestigious races from Hoosier Park, including the Indiana Derby and Indiana Oaks, for 3 year old colts and fillies respectively over 8 ½ furlongs.
