IRISH 1000 GUINEAS
The Irish 1000 Guineas is a Group 1 race for 3 year old fillies, contested each May, over 1 mile at The Curragh. It was first run on Wednesday 19th April 1922 over a mile when won by Lady Violette (SR 1750). Since its inception there have been 8 winners, up to 2018, who have gone on to win the Irish Oaks. They are in 1926 Resplendent (SR 1753), 1929 Soloptic (SR 1936), 1935 Smokeless (SR 1903), 1937 Sol Speranza (SR 1803), 1942 Majideh (SR 1956), 1943 Suntop (SR 1943), 1954 Pantomime Queen (SR 1934) and in 1979 Godetia (SR 1855).
