The 57th running of the Irish Oaks was held on Saturday 21st July 1951 over 1 1/2 miles of The Curragh, starting at the Howth Post. A pot of 5880 sovereigns was availble, 900 sovereigns to the second and 580 sovereigns to the third. The winner was owned by Comte de Chambure, trained by M Marcel Boussac and ridden by Charlie Smirke. The winner won by a neck, with 6 lengths between second and third. |
