JEFFERSON DOWNS RACECOURSE
The racecourse of Jefferson Downs was located in the state of Louisiana. It first opened its gates to thoroughbred racing during the 1950's.

I am grateful to Paul Rich who notes that the Racecourse closed in 1965 because of damage from Hurricane Betsy. Jefferson Downs was rebuilt in another location on Lake Ponchartrain, north of the New Orleans Airport, in 1974 and remained open into the 1990’s when it was closed, levelled and replaced by new housing.
