Jeju City is located on the north side of Mount Hall in South Korea and boasts its own racecourse, the smallest of the three racecourses in the country having a grandstand with the capacity to hold 3000 punters. The race park is famed for its pony racing and has 10-race cards on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year. It is situated some 9 miles south of the city of Jeju, and first opened for racing in 1990. It is the smallest of the 3 South Korean racecourses with a grandstand which has the capacity to hold 3000 punters. It actually has 2 grandstands which mirror the names of the grandstands at its more illustrious neighbour Seoul, named Happyville and Luckyville. Jeju caters for a different audience to Seoul and Busan because the perimeter of its track is only 1600 metres, and its races range from as little as 400 metre sprints, to 1600 metres. Although there are 36 jockeys permanently attached to the track, and most of its races are standard races, the track does hold a limited number of Cup races, notably the KRA Jeju Cup, the Halla Ilbo Cup and the Jeju Ilbo Cup.
