The racecourse of La Rinconada, situated 8 kilometres south west of Caracas, capital city of Venezuela, is a left handed oval dirt track of 9 furlongs with a separate sprint chute which uses the same run in. The track first opened its gates on 5th July 1959 and each Saturday and Sunday throughout the year. The country holds 2 Triple Crown series annually, one Official Triple Crown and one for Fillies, and all 6 races take place at La Rinconada. The Official Triple Crown consists of Clasico Antonio Jose de Sucre, Copa National Cruz del Avila and Clasico Republica de Venezuela. The Fillies Triple Crown is made up of Clasico Hipodromo La Riconada, the Prensa Hipica National and the Clasico General Joaquin Crespo. Other grade one races at the track includes the Gran Premio Clasico Simon Bolivar, held in October, and Clasico Fuerza Armada Bolivariana.
