A large number of tracks operated in the Liverpool area, notably at the White City on Anfields Sports ground situated at 2° 56' W 53° 25' N. Meetings also took place on Breck Park, Seaforth and Stanley. The track at Breck Park was the first to open on 23rd April 1927, closely followed by Stanley on 17th August of the same year. The White City Stadium first held racing on 20th August 1932 and Seaforth was the last to launch a track on 25th February 1933. The Liverpool White City track record was quite a slow one because the track surface was thatched and completely under cover, similar in nature to the old Crayford track. Amazingly, none of the tracks survived more than 40 years with Breck Park being the first to close on 26th February 1948. Stanley continued to race until 11th November 1961 and the White City finally closed its gates on 6th October 1973. |

Track Records, as of 1947, are shown below together with an indication of how fast the time is in comparison to other tracks, both for currently open and defunct tracks, in the UK. Ratings are between 0 and 100, where 100 is an extremely fast time and reflects the speed of the track, tightness of the circuit and quality of greyhound visiting the tracks. I am grateful to Tony Nash for providing the data. |

I am grateful to Jon Seddon for the following link to a map showing the whereabouts of the old track |

This section gives a comprehensive picture of
the badges produced by the track throughout the ages, but only provides the briefest of
glimpses of its history. For those wishing to undertake further research we can recommend
