LOUISIANA DOWNS RACECOURSE |
The Louisiana Downs racecourse can be located in the city of Bossier in the state of Louisiana. It first opened for business on 30th October 1974, its first race being won by Color Proof. The track hosts both thoroughbred, from May to September, and quarter horse race meets from January to March. The 8 furlong dirt track is supplemented by an inner 7 furlong turf track and two chutes, one of 2 furlongs and the other of 7 furlongs, each sharing a 287 metre home straight. Its owners also race at Remington Park and Thistledown. The principal race is the Group II Super Derby for 3 year olds over 8 ½ furlongs. It was first run in 1980 when Temperance Hill was successful in the hands of Eddie Maple. More recently winners are shown below. |
