The Maywood Park racecourse was located at the town of Maywood in the state of Illinois and benefits from its climate by being able to offer Standardbred racing throughout the year. The 4 furlong oval dirt track has a 170 metre home straight and was an integral part of the Chicago Harness Racing circuit. It opened on 6th June 1946 and its principal races were the Cook County Pace, the Windy City Pace, the Taurus Bomber Stakes and the Maywood Spring Championship. Its main claim to fame is that it was the first track to show a live meeting on the television, although it left all of that behind in 2015 when it closed its gates for the final time. |
