Nicosia, capital city of Cyprus, has its own racecourse, a left handed 1300 metre track at Agios Dometios, a suburb to the west of the city. The track was opened in 1878 and is the home of the Cyprus Derby, which is contested each November, as well as a number of other group 1 races as shown below. Whilst the Nicosia Race Club is responsible for the day to day running of the racetrack, the races are stewarded by the Cyprus Turf Club.
