The racecourse of Northampton Fair was located in the state of Massachusetts at the Three County Fairgrounds. Its inaugural meeting for thoroughbred racing was held on 1st September 1943 on a 4 furlong dirt track with 130 metre home straight. Throughout the next 62 years the track experienced highs and lows. A high point was in 1972 when the crowd size reached a reported 30,000, but by the dawn of the new millennium the writing was on the wall for the track. The final meeting took place on 11th September 2005.
