The racecourse of Pinnacle Park was located in Huron, just south of Detroit, in the state of Michigan and first opened for racing on 18th July 2008. It was the brainchild of Jerry Campbell and gave a much needed boost to racing enthusiasts in the area once Great Lakes Downs closed in November 2007. Meetings were scheduled to take place from March to November with the highlight being the Michigan Derby in April. The 8 furlong oval dirt track, with chutes of 2 furlongs and 7 furlongs, shared a 270 metre home straight, and when it was launched there was only a temporary grandstand with the capacity to seat 1,000 people. The plan was to build a permanent grandstand to seat 4,000, but in the end the idea did not take off, building plans were shelved and the track closed after the meeting on 31st October 2010.
