Retama Park racecourse is based at the town of Selma in the state of Texas and can boast two tracks, one 8 furlong oval dirt track, and a 7 furlong turf course, together with separate chutes of 500 metres and 6 furlongs, each sharing a 302 metre home straight. It offers both thoroughbred racing and quarter horse meets, and it first opened for racing on 7th April 1995. Its principal race is the Retama Turf Breeders Cup, while other feature races include the Texas Stallion Stakes, the New Braunfels Stakes and the Texas Hall of Fame Stakes.
