The greyhound track at Romford was located at Brooklands and situated at 0° 9' E 51° 34' N, first opening on 21st June 1929. Its history at this first venue was short lived and it relocated to London Road in 1931, the new venue being situated at 0° 10' E 51° 34' N. The principal race was the Romford Essex Vase over 575 metres. Dolores Rocket was one of the great greyhounds to win the event with a success in 1971. |

On 1st October 1971 the English Derby winner of that year, Doloroes Rocket, won over 594 metres. | ||||||
By 1988 Romford was hosting such prestigious events as the Champion Stakes over 575 metres or 629 yards. The first winner of the event was Dads Flier, but a full list of winners is shown below. | ||||||
