Scioto Downs racecourse can be found in the town of Columbus in the state of Ohio and is renowned for quality harness racing. It first opened for racing on 2nd June 1959 on a 5 furlong dirt oval track with 180 metre home straight, offering enthusiasts an open air grandstand with the capacity to accommodate 10,000, with a Clubhouse holding upwards of 2,400 people. The season traditionally starts in May and extends through to September. Its principal races are the Heart of Ohio Trot, the Capital City Pace and the Charlie Hill Pace. In 2011 the track s revenue was boosted when it became the first track in the State to open a casino and racino.
