The Kent village of Sellindge, on the North Downs, lies between Ashford and Folkestone. It has a history of organising large events, most recently Steam Fairs and Music Festivals, but in the latter part of the 1800s it held its own race meeting. However, the meeting of 1880 did not get the necessary support for future meetings to be organised. The only recorded meeting took place on Wednesday 5th May 1880. However, at a later time point to point races were staged in the vicinity of the village.
