After a false start in which Launcelot was left behind, the race was restarted and saw Polydorus cut out the early running. At the top of the hill Polydorus gave way to Launcelot who began to force the pace. Past the Red House Laucelot maintained his lead and at the distance he and Maroon raced clear. It was clear that Maroon had the beating of his stable companion, but the Marquis of Westminster had 'declared to win' with Launcelot, so J Holmes took a pull on Maroon allowing Laucelot to get home by a head. In a 7 race career Launcelot won 4 races, although 2 were walk-overs. Over Round 115%
