After one false start it was Hermitage and Harvester who shared the early running with The Lambkin the whipper-in. As they climbed the hill Hermitage was joined by Somerton with Cormeile in third. At the Red House Cormeille and Somerton hung out distress signals leaving Hermitage to take up the running again from The Lambkin. At the distance The Lambkin maintained his lead and at the line he won by a length in 3 minutes 14 seconds, with 3 parts of a length between Sandiway and Superba. This was the only race of any importance won by The Lambkin. Over Round 102%
