TABY GALOPP RACECOURSE
The racecourse Taby Galopp can be found in the town of Taby some 9 miles from the Swedish capital Stockholm. It hosts thoroughbred racing and first opened its gates in 1960. It can operate throughout the year, including racing on a dirt surface at night meetings, as well as high quality turf racing.
Its principal race is the Group 3 Stockholm Cup International over 2400 metres, which was first contested in 1994 when won by Mr Eubanks ridden by Susanne Berneklint. Most recently in 2009 the winner was Touch of Hawk.
Other feature races include the Taby Open Sprint Championships over 1150 metres (or nearly 6 furlongs). It is a Group 3 race held each September since 1998 when Mortens Prospect was victorious in the hands of Janos Tandari. The latest 2009 winner was Calrissian who gained back to back wins having won in 2008.
