1643 The match racing of horses ridden by soldiers stationed at Ludlow Castle is reported to have taken place at Bromfield, near Ludlow. 1729 First evidence of a meeting taking place at Ludlow. 1796Further evidence that regular meetings were taking place, although they were not the main entertainment. Indeed, racing started late into the afternoon this year becuase of the length of time taken by cock fights. 1850 Races up to this date had been on the flat, but records show that the first hurdle races took place in this year.

1870 A steeplechase track, running across the centre of the course, is introduced for the first time. 1904 The new grandstand is built and opened this year, the racecourse sharing its ground with the Ludlow Golf Club. |
