GOSFORD RACECOURSE | ||
Gosford Racecourse, a provincial track, is situated in Gosford West in the State of New South Wales some 56 miles North of Sydney. | ||
The first meeting organised by Gosford Race Club was held on 11th November 1913. Todays members are able to view the racing from the JH Little Members Stand which overlooks both the winning post and the saddling enclosure. | ||
The principal race is the Gosford Gold Cup which is run over 10 furlongs and was won in 1961 by Our Add. Top Missel gained back to back wins in 1963 and 1964. It gained Listed Status in 1980 when won by March To Glory. By 1986 it had become a Group 3 race when Sea Pictures proved triumphant. | ||
Other feature races at the course are the Gosford 3-y-old
Classic, the Pacesetter Stakes and the Belle of Tune Stakes.
