Kokura racecourse can be found in the industrial city of Minami-Ku Kitakyushu on the island of Kyushu, and the present day course was built in 1994. It can trace racing in the area back to 1931 and holds flat and jump races on both dirt and turf surfaces. It hosts 3 major meetings annually.
Its principal races are the Kokura Daishoten over 1800 metres, Kokura Kinen over 2000 metres and Kitakyushu Kinen over 1200 metres.

To show the tracks versatility, in July each year it hosts the Kokura Summer Jump Handicap over 3900 metres which is a Group 3 event.
