Speedway took place for the first time at Heathersfield Stadium on Whitecross Farm in 1989. The initial meeting, a training match, was held on 5th August of that year when Hunters Horrors were successful by 30-25 against Prosser's Posers. There followed a number of Open Race years and Training years until 1994.

The team entered the British League third tier for the 1994 season and the Linlithgow Lightning enjoyed a 42-35 success against Iwade.
