1901 Pembrokeshire Hunt, based at Haverfordwest, holds its last meeting under rules on 11th April 1901
1903 Anglesey Hunt, based at Beaumaris (see Closed course section), holds its last meeting under rules on 4th November 1903
1906 Usk holds its last meeting under rules on 2nd April 1906
1914 Pembroke Hunt and Carmarthen Hunt hold their last meetings under rules on 8th and 17th April 1914 respectively.
1933 Monmouth holds its last meeting under rules on 4th May 1933
1936 Tenby holds its last meeting under rules on 29th October 1936
1939 Cardiff and Glamorgan Hunt, based at Cowbridge, hold their last meetings under rules on 27th April and 4th May 1939 respectively.
1940 Oswestry hold their last meeting under rules on 4th May 1940
1948 Newport hold their last meeting under rules on 17th May 1948
2002 Open mining land was purchased by the Walters Group with the express intention of creating a superb racecourse to serve the West of Wales.
2007 In April, Carmarthen County Council approved planning application to construct the racecourse.
2008 Northern Racing Group is selected to manage the course led by Jon Williams.
2009 There are now 3 racecourses in Wales, with Ffos Las being the latest addition. It is located near the town of Trimsaran in the West of the country, and has been developed on the 650 acre site which was formerly an open cast mine. The racecourse boasts an all weather course with a running circumference of 12 furlongs. It enjoys the luxury of being able to host Flat and national Hunt meetings and has a grandstand capable to housing 1000 punters fully seated.
2009 Thursday 18th June is the first race day (see scan of racecard below)
2009 Tuesday 21st July is the first flat meeting (see scan of racecard below)
2009 Friday 28th August is the official opening by Sir Peter O'Sullevan
2010 The future is very bright, with plans to hod a 'Celtic Festival' in early March to take advantage of the Irish horses and punters arriving for the nearby Cheltenham Festival.
