THISTLEDOWN RACECOURSE
Thistledown racecourse is situated in North Randall in the state of Ohio. It began racing in 1931 when operated by the Ohio Racing Commission. It is currently administered by Magna Entertainment Corporation.

The Ohio Derby was first run at Bainbridge Park, Ohio but since 1931 has been contested at Thistledown.

This is its principal race, which is a Group 2 race run each June over 9 furlongs for 3 year olds. Whilst it was first contested back in 1876 when Bombay was successful, it then moved to Thistledown in 1931. The 2008 winner was Smooth Air ridden by Manoel Cruz.
The course also hosts the Cleveland Gold Cup and the North Randall Stakes.
