This was run on Monday 5th March 1838 at Aintree, despite many books suggesting that it was run at Maghull. There were just 3 runners and the winners time was 15 minutes. Therw ere 5 subscribers at 5 sovereigns each, with 25 sovereigns added. The second saved their stake, meaning the winner netted 65 sovereigns (Equivalent to £6,700 in 2017)
