This was run on the Wednesday 5th March 1845 with heavy going and clear, but cold weather. The winner was owned by William S Crawford, trained by Christopher 'Kitty' Crisp and ridden by Mr William Loft. The winner's time was 10 minutes 47 seconds.

There were 48 subscribers, 15 paying 20 sovereigns, 12 paying 10 sovereigns, and 21 paying 5 sovereigns, with 100 sovereigns added. The second saved his stake, and 10 sovereigns were given for expenses, leaving a winners pot of 595 sovereigns. (Equivalent to £69,600 in 2017)
