The race took place on Saturday 9th April 2022 when a field of 40 ran in good going. The winner won by 2 1/4 lengths,, with 20 lengths between second and third. The winner was owned by former Cheltenham Racecourse Chairman Robert Waley-Cohen, trained by Emmet Mullins and ridden by Sam Waley-Cohen. It was the first time the race had been won by an amateur rider since 1990, and Sam Waley-Cohen, who has been successful 7 times at Aintree, was riding for the final time before retiring just short of his 40th birthday. |
